George Laskaris, MD, DDS, PhD, was born in Greece and earned his DDS and MD degrees at the University of Athens. He went on to do postgraduate work in dermatology, oral pathology, oral medicine, and skin immunopathology in Athens and at the universities of London and Bristol in England.

 Dr. Laskaris is currently Associate Professor of Oral Medicine, Medical School, University of Athens; Head in Oral Medicine, Department of Dermatology, "A. Sygros" Hospital, Athens; and visiting Professor, University of London, UK.

 He has published extensively in English, French, and Greek, including eight books and over 60 journal articles. His textbook, Color Atlas of Oral Diseases, received awards from the British Medical Association and the Greek Society of Dermatology. He has made over 420 presentations at international dental and medical congresses.
