About the Authors of
The Dental Hygienist's Guide to Nutritional Care
Second Edition

Cynthia A. Stegeman, RDH, MEd, RD, LD, CDE, attended the Dental Hygiene Program at Raymond Walters College, University of Cincinnati, where she received an Associate of Applied Science degree, followed by a Bachelor of Science in Public Health Dental Hygiene from Indiana University in Indianapolis. She practiced dental hygiene in general and periodontal private practices for nearly ten years before returning to the University of Cincinnati for her Master of Nutrition Education and completing a comprehensive dietetic internship at The Christ Hospital in Cincinnati.

Currently, she is an Assistant Professor in the Dental Hygiene Program at Raymond Walters College and has taught Nutrition and Health Education for the past 13 years. She is also a Certified Diabetes Educator and practiced in clinical diatetics with emphasis in cardiac rehabilitation, diabetes education, eating disorders, and sports nutrition. In addition, she speaks to numerous community and professional groups and has written several publications on nutrition and dentistry. She plays a very active leadership role in the local, state, and national Diatetic Association. She is soon to begin her adventure of pursuing a doctorate degree with a dissertation emphasis on dentistry, diabetes, and nutrition.

Judi Ratliff Davis, MS, RD, LD, received her BS from the University of Texas at Austin, her MS in nutrition from Texas Woman's University in Denton, and completed a dietetic internship at Indiana University Medical Center in Indianapolis. She is currently employed in Austin, Texas, at the Texas Department of Health as a Quality Assurance Nutrition Consultant for the Women, Infants and Children (WIC) program. She has had a variety of experiences in the field of nutrition, including teaching, clinical dietitian, and consultant. She has taught various nutrition and food service courses at Tarrant County Junior College in Fort Worth, Texas.

 Her roles as a clinical dietitian include Home-Based Community Support, Tarrant County Mental Health Mental Retardation; Rehabilitation Hospital of North Texas, Arlington, Texas; Fort Worth State School, Fort Worth, Texas; Rex Hospital in Raleigh, North Carolina; and Baptist Memorial Hospital in San Antonio, Texas. She has also worked as a nutrition consultant for nursing homes and mental health facilities in western Virginia, San Antonio, and the Dallas-Fort Worth area, for the Greenhouse, a health spa in Arlington, Texas, and the Sugar Association.
